Charlottetown Terrace + Strawn Tower Charlotte, NC

Charlottetown Terrace is an existing 11-story high-rise building built in 1975. Strawn Tower is an existing 12-story high-rise building built in 1970 originally constructed and currently owned and operated by the Charlotte Housing Authority. The buildings will house 161 disabled tenants and 170 senior tenants, respectively. In 2009, the Charlotte Housing Authority retained the services of Axiom Architecture to head the design team to fully renovate both buildings. These renovations involve full system upgrades (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire and elevator), complete interior upgrades/ refinishing, window system replacement and multiple other building skin and exterior upgrades and changes. Along with these renovations, two floors are being completely gutted and redesigned to house full-services and amenities for the residents. The buildings are registered with USGBC and are currently pursuing Silver Certification. Charlottetown is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in September 2011. Strawn Tower will start construction late 2011 with a projected completion date 12 months later.
