Strawn Tower

Charlotte, NC

Strawn Tower is an existing 12-story high-rise building built in 1970, originally constructed and currently owned and operated by the Charlotte Housing Authority. Strawn Tower will house 170 senior tenants. In 2009, the Charlotte Housing Authority retained the services of Axiom Architecture to head the design team to fully renovate the building. The renovation involved full system upgrades (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire and elevator), complete interior upgrades/ refinishing, a window system replacement and multiple other building skin and exterior upgrades and changes. Along with these building improvements, two floors were completely gutted and redesigned to house full-services and amenities for the residents. The building is registered with the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) and achieved LEED Gold Certification.
