CourtSide

Charlotte, NC

Anchored on a prominent corner of Charlotte’s First Ward neighborhood, this project was originally conceived as a medium density low-rise structure. As the surrounding neighborhood re-established itself as a vital uptown community, additional focus shifted toward this corner of the city. Ultimately, the Charlotte Hornets [NBA] Arena chose a site adjacent to the future Courtside Condominium. This activity sparked further interest for the retail market in the immediate area, justifying higher density considerations for surrounding housing projects.

After several iterations, the project was designed as a 17-story high-rise. The ground level contains street front retail/restaurant space as well as entrance to a 6-level parking deck. The parking deck was designed to serve the 106-unit Courtside project as well as an additional 80-unit condo project abutting the building.

Each residential unit has 10-foot exposed concrete ceilings and ductwork and are bathed in light from expansive window walls. The unit mix provided a range from 550sf studios to 2000+sf custom penthouses. A communal roof terrace provides a unique gathering space with expansive views of the city.
